Zilala Mamat

Zilala is a senior majoring in Government and minoring in Public Policy. Being Uyghur, her passion lies in human rights and advocacy; she aims to explore the internal processes of international law and foreign relations. On campus, Zilala is a part of the Einhorn Center, the Community Partnership Funding Board, ACLU, Cornell Asian Pacific Americans for Action, TEDx Cornell and Cornell Coalition of Students Resisting the CCP. Off campus, Zilala is the Co-founder of the nonprofits United Uyghur Youth and Rawan Mentorship and also closely collaborates with Freedom House and International Republican Institute (nonpartisan) on international grants and research projects. She spent her past winter abroad in Central Asia and this summer abroad in Turkey and Australia with grant funding to conduct independent ethnographic research and archival work. In her free time, you can find Zilala battling her addiction to procrastination or baking with Mira. zam32@cornell.edu
